Training

ACT designed and delivers a Leadership Certificate Program for the Vancouver School Board Continuing Education (VSB-CE) department. This unique program, which consists of eight courses, is built on a leadership competency matrix developed by ACT and uses real-life examples and situations in course assignments.

ACT designed and delivers a Business Management Certificate Program for the VSB-CE. Designed to provide participants with the skills and training need to work effectively in established businesses and in new and growing small businesses, the program features three options to specialize in: Financial Management, Administrative Management and Marketing Management.

Teambuilding

ACT has conducted team development programs recently to:

  • McQuarrie Hunter Law Firm to address issues of communication gaps between professional and non-professional staff.
  • Canada Post supervisors to ensure more effective compliance and control.
  • Canada Border Agency to encourage the use of teams in high stress, high accountability situations.

Speedwriting

ACT recently delivered speedwriting training to managers and administrative staff at several municipal authorities around the Lower Mainland.

Curriculum Development

ACT designed and facilitated a Skills for Effective Human Relations policy and program for Canada Post’s Supervisor Development Program. This included the development of industry competencies and assessment tools. The program focused on the coaching and human dynamics skills necessary for supervisors in a low motivation, service-heavy environment.

ACT recently developed a 12-module training program on Retail Service and Management Skills Training for Retail BC. This program is currently acknowledged as an exceptional industry standard. The program consists of three modules, each of which is made up of three courses.

ACT designed and delivers a Supervisory Skills Foundation Certificate Program. This program, which consists of two levels and 13 courses total, helps participants understand the role and responsibilities of a supervisor and prepares them to be effective supervisors. The project includes included the development of industry competencies and assessment tools. Topics include the strategies and actions required to realize success in a results-driven environment through effective supervision and improved communications as well as leadership communication strategies and skills.

Consulting and Project Management

 

Strategic Planning

We held strategic planning and implementation sessions for a 13-community Public Library system. We facilitated community consultations and planning sessions and then developed a 5-year plan for a School District.

Organizational Design

We worked with a College to reorganize and redesign the organizational structure, reporting system and internal processes. This included research and process mapping as well as planning and delivery.

Systems Design

We work with start-up micro enterprises and small businesses to develop scalable, replicable systems and processes to facilitate consistent quality and quick growth.

Small Business Consulting

We act as business consultants/advisors and provide alumni services to start up small businesses.

Capacity Building

We worked with an Indigenous peoples group to develop a support system for economic development. We developed a policy manual for a National Arts group to enable mentoring and volunteer development and worked with an immigrant services agency to develop appropriate programs and services for community capacity building.

Community Leadership

We assisted a local ethnic association to improve community relations. We delivered a series of free leadership community forums for barriered community participants.
