The ACT Ltd. Master Facilitator program recognizes merit in adult education through the training and certification of qualified facilitators. This certification represents achievement and excellence as an adult educator. Courses and standards are based on a competency profile of adult educators developed by ACT Ltd. President Janet Dean.

Master Facilitator (MF) Training Program

The following courses make up the MF training Program. A total of 45 hours of training time is required. The Levels must be taken in order and no exemptions are granted. Those wishing to apply their coursework to certification must fill out an application and may do so anytime after completing Level 1.

Level 1 MF Training

Topics include:

• Fundamentals of Adult Learning and HIP
• Training and Facilitation Best Practices in the Corporate Environment
• Cooperative and Active Learning Techniques
• Practicing Instruction

Level 2 MF Training

Topics include:

• Lesson Planning and Classroom Management
• Designing Effective Evaluation
• Working with Diverse Learners
• Teaching Thinking
• Instructional Media Techniques
• Practicing Instruction

Level 3 MF Training

Topics include:

• Facilitating Dialogue, Participation and Collaboration
• Using Controversy in the Classroom
• Teaching Thinking
• Facilitating Alternative Deliveries
• Teaching/using ACT’s Proprietary Mind Matters™ Brain-based Learning Model
• Competency/Problem Based Training and Curriculum Design
• Practicing Instruction

Duration

Each course is 15 hours in duration and is currently available through weekend delivery. Courses run Friday 6-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9-4pm.

Level 1 are offered 2 times per year and Level 2 and 3 are offered at least once annually. Delivery is subject to sufficient enrollment.

Cost

Cost is $595.00 + GST. ACT Ltd. staff and contractors attend at the reduced rate of $150 per course of which $15.00 is donated to the ACT Spirit Foundation.

Certification

To be certified as a Master Facilitator by Advance Corporate Training Ltd., you must develop a competency portfolio that evidences the following;

• 75 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction.
• At least 6 hours of directly audited/evaluated instruction to an acceptable standard.
• Verifiable subject matter expertise.
• Three articles or research reports within a three-year time period (from date of application) with at least one on instructional skills and one in your subject matter.
• Completion of all three levels of the ACT Master Facilitator Training Program.

Upon initial certification, facilitators may use the designation Master Facilitator (or M.F.) in professional use. Applicants to the Master Facilitator Certification Program are considered Master Facilitator Candidates until the successful completion of all criteria. Not all applicants may become certified.

Initial certification is valid for two years. Re-certification is required every two years.

ACT In-house trainers

A minimum of Level 1 MF training is required for all ACT Ltd. corporate trainers.
