WorkLife Awards Finalist Puts Words into ACTion
New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada – Advance Corporate Training Ltd. (ACT) has been named a finalist in the 2007 WorkLife BC Awards.
The awards weigh various criteria including an employers’ alternate work arrangements, recognition of care responsibilities, workplace culture/environment and leave provisions.
“We educate our clients on how to achieve work-life balance, and to be selected as a finalist for this award feels great because it shows that we can walk the walk,” said ACT President Janet Dean. “This is an honour that will be shared among all our employees, past and present.”
This is the premier edition of the awards, which showcase and celebrate employers who have created workplaces that support employees in balancing work-life commitments.
ACT’s various work-life balance initiatives include providing part-time employees with benefits, paying for employees’ post-secondary courses or providing paid time to attend courses, and allowing employees to bring their pets into work. In addition ACT has adapted two positions for teleworking and holds internal training sessions on time and stress management, priority management and resiliency.
Robin Birak, ACT’s Human Resources and Project Coordinator, said there is a direct link between an organization’s success and the work-life balance of its employees.
“We do everything we can to give our employees healthy work-life balances, and in turn our employees show great levels of commitment and retention,” she said.
The winners will be announced at the WorkLife BC Awards presentation on February 9, 2007.
ACT has been providing training in areas such as work-life balance, leadership, management, customer service and HR to performance-driven businesses, institutions and organizations since 1990. The company operates out of its head office in New Westminster, BC, as well as satellite offices in Edmonton, AB, Yellowknife, NT, and China.
